I’m Canadian, born and raised… am I stupid? I only get the TF and Team Canada reference.. what does the Jaws and fireplace have to do with being Canadian? Fireplaces are just a canadian thing now? Is this artist a millenial?
For those of us over 50, the fireplace is the Friendly Giant. The man is lead singer for The tragically hip
No, the FG was around in the 70’s I remember that, but .. that obtuse fireplace drawing.. a horrible representation of the show. I guess I didn’t see the resemblance for The Hip.. what a terrible drawing.
Actually I think it is a good rendering – got the feathered hat and scarf and the Jaws t-shirt – of the final show in Kingston.
One chair for you, one big chair for two, and a rocking chair in the middle for someone who likes to rock. Or something like that, at the beginning and end of each show.
I got all the references but I’m not sure I’d call The Friendly Giant “iconic”. A “stubby” would perhaps be iconic, but not a kid’s show.
Most all of us recognize the four iconic images. However most of us are not aware that all four Canadian greats have been touched by cancer.
The Friendly Giant actor; Bob Homme died from prostate cancer;
Paul Henderson, who scored the winning goal against Russia, was/is fighting lymphocytil leukemia;
Terry Fox, died as a result of the same cancer that took his leg;
Tragically Hip front man; Gordon Downie, has in-operable and terminal brain cancer.
Just thought you should know.
