Ministry of Education to Host Open House on Student Reporting
Prince George, B.C. – Parents with questions or concerns about student progress reporting are invited to participate in an open house next week.
It will be hosted by the Ministry of Education and take place at Prince George Secondary School on Wednesday, Feb.22.
Parents can take part in the casual open house from 5-7 p.m. to share their ideas on how to improve student reporting and if they like participate in a brainstorming workshop from 7-8 p.m. to share their thoughts in greater detail.
The feedback is part of the three-year implementation of B.C.’s new curriculum which the ministry says “is designed to get students ready to succeed in the changing world.”
Ministry staff and school district officials will also be on hand to discus the future of student progress reporting in kindergarten-to-Grade 9 classrooms.
Parents unable to attend can still share their thoughts online until Feb.28, 2017. So far, the ministry says the engagement website has received over 26,100 visits while close to 5,000 have completed the feedback form.
A summary report of what was heard during the engagement process will be posted online in June.
