Two Cats Head to Camp

Prince George, B.C. –  Two Prince George  Cougars have been invited to take part in special  hockey camps  this summer.

Forward Jackson Leppard is one of 44 players invited to attend Hockey Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Selection Camp taking place in Calgary,in late July. Approximately half of the invitees will go on the represent Canada during the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament which begins August 2nd in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Cougars GM Todd Harkins says  the team is  proud of Leppard’s  invitation “He’s worked very hard to put himself in this position and we are confident that he will make the most of this experience and opportunity. He’s going to be a big-time contributor for us in the seasons to come.”

Meantime, goaltender Taylor Gauthier  has been invited to attend Team Canada’s U-17 Summer Development Camp in Calgary. The camp begins July 22 and will feature 111 players from across Canada. Approximately half of those players will then be invited to represent Canada in the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge which takes place in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John,  from November 5th – 11th.

“We’re thrilled for Taylor that he received an invite to this camp,” said Harkins. “He’s a tremendous competitor and he approaches the game with a maturity and a confidence well beyond his years. We’re very excited to see what the future holds for him in a Cougars uniform and this experience with Hockey Canada will be huge for his development.”
