97 Widening Planned for Williams Lake
Williams Lake, B.C. – As recovery efforts move forward in the Cariboo, comes word of a major transportation project that will be undertaken by a Wiliams Lake company.
A 1.5-kilometre section of Highway 97 will be widened between Carson Drive and Toop Road within Williams Lake. Intersection improvements will be made to the Highway 97/Carson Drive intersection and the Toop Road intersection. In addition, a multi-use path will be constructed adjacent to the highway and improvements will also be made to the adjoining municipal network of McKinnon Road, 11th Avenue North and Broadway Avenue North.
Peterson Contracting Ltd. of Williams Lake has been awarded the $17-million contract. The City of Williams Lake is contributing $2 million in support of the project.
Construction is now starting with completion estimated for 2019.
