Prince Rupert, B.C.- After 25 years at the helm of the Prince Rupert Port Authority, Don Krusel has announced he is retiring.

During his time with the  Port Authority he has  helped it grow from  a small resource port to a key  shipping  gateway.

“I am proud of the tremendous accomplishments and growth that have taken place at the port and community of Prince Rupert over the last decade” says Krusel, “With the completion of the recent expansion project to make Fairview Container Terminal the second largest terminal in Canada, and the Port well positioned for another decade of exceptional growth, it is an appropriate moment to announce my retirement from the Port and pass the leadership to a new generation.”

The growth of the Port  has been a  positive  for Northern B.C.,  providing producers with access to  the shortest shipping route between North America and Asia and the creation of a container handling site at  the Prince George CN Rail yards.  The growth of the Port  has been credited with  creating  thousands of jobs  not just n Prince Rupert,  but  throughout Northern B.C.

Prince Rupert Port Authority’s  Chief Financial Officer, Joe Rektor will take over the role of  President and CEO  on an interim basis.  A search for  a  permanent replacement  is underway.
