de Jong Joins Race for Liberal Leadership

Tuesday, September 26, 2017 @ 9:50 AM

Prince George, B.C. – There are now five  confirmed candidates in the running for the  leadership of B.C.’s Liberal Party.

Former Finance Minister Mike de Jong  made   his intention official today,  joining  Dianne Watts, Sam Sullivan, Andrew Wilkinson and Mike Bernier  in the race.

The ballot could still see  three more names added,   as Michael Lee,  and Todd Stone   are expecting to  take a shot  at it,  and  there is a Terrace Businesswoman, Lucy Sager,  who  may  also  announce their intentions  in the coming  days.

All candidates must  take part  in party sponsored debates or forums to be held in a number of communities  throughout the Province,  including one in Prince George,  although the details  for  such an event  have not yet been  finalized.

The   campaign  leading up to the  vote  is a long one,   as the party members  will  vote online ( with a telephone option)  February 1st,  2nd and 3rd.

The winner of the  leadership race will be announced on Saturday February 3rd at  the leadership convention.

de Jong was first elected in 1994 so he has been in Government for 23 years. Perhaps its time for him to find a new line of work.

It’ll cost them $50K incrementally if the stay in the race . They have to anti up 15K just to enter . Pay to play , pay to enter , pay to stay in . Nothing to do with talent , integrity, vision or anything other than money . Best leadership money can buy .

Good for him. He’s the frontrunner so far.

Who told you that? Pat Bell?

you got that right. God help us should he become the leader and of course he would have to win an election. He has the poorest image as a finance minister one would ever see . I guess that’s why Christy used him.
      Cheers

I don’t see any winners stepping up yet, just place holders for the politically correct status quo.

Yawn.
Just another politician.
