Ben Meisner

250News  founder Ben Meisner passed away on April 2, 2015, just  a little over a month shy of the 10th anniversary of the start of this independent news site.

With  nearly 60 years  experience in the news business, he  mentored  the  team which carries on his work.  Ben was  the recipient of  the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee medals,  a Lifetime Achievement  award from the Radio and Television News Directors Association, and was given Freeman of the City status  in Vanderhoof for his relentless efforts to stop the Kemano Completion project.

He was known for his many years as a hard hitting radio talk show host in Prince George. Prince George- Valemount MLA Shirley Bond  once said  being a guest  on Meisner’s program was “A bit like a visit to the dentist.  It could be painful,  but it was necessary.”  Ben  was  just as widely  known for his no nonsense editorials which  called it  as he saw it,  and which were  always  wrapped up with  “I’m Meisner, and that’s one man’s opinion.”
