Prince George, BC-  It was not the christening the Cariboo Cougars had hoped for as they took to their new 'home' for a game against the Okanagan Rockets earlier this evening...

The Cougars suffered a 9-2 bruising against one of the top teams in the BC Major Midget League in the newly-renovated Kin One arena.

The Rockets led 1-0 after the first period, before kicking into overdrive on the Olympic-size ice surface - scoring four in the second and another four in the final period of play.  Tyson Jost had four goals, while Cory Santoro added a pair and assisted on another.

Brendan Moore and Mitchell Williams scored for the Cariboo Cats.  Williams' goal came in the third period on the power play.

The two teams meet again tomorrow (Sunday) morning at 10am.

Prince George secured a spot in the play-offs with last weekend's two-game sweep of the North Island Silvertips.  With tonight's loss, the team falls to 17-17-and-2 on the season - 5th place in the league with 36-points.  The Rockets are tied for first with the Vancouver NW Giants at 60-points.  The Cats will play the Giants next weekend in the final games of the regular season.
