Clinching Gold On Closing Day

By 250 Sports

Prince George, BC -  With hockey fans gathered around their TV sets early this morning, Canada's Mens Hockey team won gold in convincing fashion, 3-0 over Sweden...

Team Canada got goals in each of the three periods from Jonathan Toews ( a redirect from a Shea Weber shot) , Sidney Crosby ( a breakaway unassisted), and Chris Kunitz ( a stinging slapshot that hit the crossbar before  going into the net).  But the talk of the tournament is  Canada's goalie, Carey Price, who got the shutout this morning, and in the 1-0 win over the United States in the semi-final.

Canada finishes the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics in third spot in the medal count with 10 gold, 10 silver, and five bronze for a total of 25.  Host Russia was first with 33 medals, but their gold medal count of 13 falls one short of the record for most gold medals at a Games, set by Canada in 2010.  The Russians also won 11 silver and 9 bronze.  Norway ended the Games in second place with 26 - 11 gold, 5 silver, and 10 bronze.

The Closing Ceremonies are just underway.  Bobsled champions, Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse, are Canada's flag-bearers.

Why get up at 3? The game started at just after 4. That's when I got up. We won gold then I fell back asleep.
Another correction, the 3rd goal was not a slapshot. Did the writer of this article watch the game?
