Support for Raise, But Amount is Issue
By 250 News
New Democrat MLA Harry Lali has had a change of heart, now saying he will not support the legislation which will boost a B.C. MLA’s pay by 29 %. He had initially broken ranks with Leader Carole James and the NDP Causcus over the planned pay hike.
The Opinion250 poll shows it isn’t so much the matter of opposing any raise, it is all about how much the pay increase should be.
According to your votes, only 16.4% said the MLAs shouldn’t get ANY pay increase. 63.2% said the pay raise shoul be between 1 and 10 %, specifically, 33% said it shold be 1-5%, and 29.4% said 6-10.
Here is the rest of the story:
- 5% support a pay hike of 11-15%
- 3.5% support an increase of 16-20%
- 2% would support a boost of 21-25% and
- 10% supported a boost of 26-30%

It is either an NDP majority government which *rules* or it is the Liberals which *rule.*
But they always insist on *ruling* once in, no matter who they are.
What Campbell wants,Campbell will get.
And he doesn't really give a damn what we think! His own arrogance and that of his government is getting worse by the day.
He also knows there is not a damn thing we can do about it.
That's exactly the problem.
Fortuantely, there are some cracks starting to appear in the liberal armour.
Perhaps a good frying by the media will slap these guys back in line, but I doubt that that will happen anytime soon.
And the NDP is every bit as much to blame by their silence.
They too know which side their bread is buttered on.
It will all only get worse. All we have to do is wait for it!
I smell a rat.
